Here is a quick 3-step plan to set your 2022 goals:

Have a 5 year plan – Yes a 5 year plan!  Most people overestimate what they can do in 1 year but underestimate what they can do in 5 years. Each year you can revisit your plan and amend it accordingly.  It’s about being honest with yourself and just outlining what you want to achieve. Give yourself something to work towards without over committing or making the goals feel insurmountable.

Write it down.  Make SMART goals (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time bound).  For example “By the end of 2022, I will complete X-number of exams and I will be X-number of points closer to achieving Chartered status, which will allow me to further my career and increase my earning potential” The more detailed your visualisation, the greater the impact it will have on you moving forward.

Review and refresh what needs to happen in the next 12 months (or in 2022) – You’ve got the plan in place. And, wow, it looks totally amazing, but 5 years is a long time from now. How do you make sure you don’t lose motivation?  You break it down by setting small, SMART, yearly goals that will keep you on track.

This is where you decide what needs to happen in 2022!
